Highlights from the GAM Meeting in Munich

The Global Alliance of Microbiology (GAM) held its most recent members meeting on April 21, 2026, during the ESCMID Global Congress in Munich. This gathering marked a major step forward in our mission to provide practical, high-quality resources to microbiology laboratories worldwide.

    Key Highlights

    • Rapid Resource Sharing: We are finalising a fast-track publication to make core GAM documentation and SOPs available to the global community as quickly as possible.
    • Expanded Leadership: We will welcome two new members to our Steering Committee, with a focus on strengthening representation of the Global South.
    • Local Media Production: A priority roadmap was established to develop a technical manual for Central Media Making Laboratories, together with Dx AMR collaborative, helping countries produce quality culture media locally.
    • Strengthened Partnerships: We continue to align our efforts with global partners like ASLM, the Fleming Initiative, and the Dx AMR Collaborative to address critical gaps in diagnostic capacity.

    Looking Forward
The alliance is now moving into its phase to roll out the collaborative digital repository before summer 2026.
